One thing we believe in at QS is to leave the world better than it exists right now.
In an effort to do this, we take a portion of our profits and use it to run a non-profit organization led by Dr. Brinky Desai, PhD (biologist, conservationist, crocodile expert, and an amazing science communicator), myself, and often other members of the QS team. Our goal is to spread awareness about wildlife and the importance to protect it, as well as wild habitats. We publish scientific papers once in a while (you can look us up on ResearchGate)
Last weekend, we took 40 students (6th, 7th, 8th grade), and several teachers, from a local school to a seasonal wetland in the desert - Chharidandh in Kutch, India - one of the key locations where over a hundred migratory species gather in the winter.
They got to see literally THOUSANDS of cranes that migrate from Siberia, several different birds of prey, a gorgeous Milky Way the way it is visible in the middle of nowhere.
The kids learned how to conserve water out in the desert (and also what it was like when they overused it and ran out!). They got to trek the base of an extinct volcano. They also got to see various tools we use in nature conservation and hear from the Forest officers about what challenges they face out there. We even saw a large grassland forest fire from afar.
See if you can spot the camel in the panorama to see how large this landscape is!
On the way back, we stopped to look at one of our crocodile sites and saw a few large adults and a juvenile hanging out at the edge of the water.
We hold such programs frequently, often in schools, sometimes in the field when possible. This year, we’ve set a goal to reach 50+ schools before the end of 2026! Everything we do is free for the kids, schools, and everyone involved. Nobody has to pay anything. QuadSpinner takes care of every single expense.
Thank you to the Gaea community!! Your support helps make this happen, literally.
