This is really amazing work!! Did you use height data and adjust it in Gaea, or is this a full recreation?

Thanks so much! Yes, I used 1-meter resolution DEM data from USGS. The details are truly amazing. I can only hope to learn and study by attempting to recreate some real places. Just some light, small scale erosion, extra debris, rivers, snow, trees, etc.

What I am most proud of is taking Google Earth screenshots of the grass and rocks and feeding them into the Synth node for just the colors I needed. That and getting clever with the view-port controls for some nice panning.

So cool! Its a really nice way of understanding real world shapes through the lens of Gaea’s viewport.

I’ve continued to work on this location. Spent a lot more time with it in Gaea and imported into Unreal. I am still polishing some things before it goes up on Artstation, but I thought it would be fun to share a sneak peek.

I’ve always wanted to do these Gaea ⊱ Unreal direct comparison shots.

I thought I might go a bit further with this project, but I’m happy enough with it and want to try somewhere new. Got it all buttoned up and posted to ArtStation.
