I’d like to ask for a simple beginner tutorial for someone who has very little usage of Gaia, on how to perform operations easily, without too much advanced functionality, and a real example of bringing that into unreal. This is something that I have personally struggled with. There are lots of really good tutorials out there on Gaea, which I followed, so I feel like I’m finally starting to get the swing of how to use it. But the thing I’m not really certain of, is how to make a good workflow out of it, and get good use out of it
For example. How can I create a mountain range for a big wide open area, with a river or other water feature, bring that into unreal engine, complete with the instructions on what landscape size I should use, and if I wanted to create a neighboring region next to it in unreal engine, for a second Gaea tile, how I would do that next. This is something I have wanted to explore, but it feels a little daunting.
Inevitably, where this is leading to, is to be able to use this actively, to create and shape a huge world. Unless I’m misunderstanding the actual purpose of Gaea. Some say on Reddit that it’s mostly only good for creating hero assets, like really good looking mountains and features in prominent areas like cities, and that other resources like world Creator or Houdini are much better value. But others claim that such an attitude is only usually due to misunderstanding Gaea and how to use it
So I think if there was a beginner friendly tutorial, three of too much complexity, that just shows a simple workflow, it could really help those who are not industry experts or lifelong game developers ease into it more seamlessly. I’m happy to provide more insight and information if needed. Please do let me know.
